Here's another oldie for this week's Illustration Friday. I think it was drawn last summer, maybe last fall. It was for a small press magazine and the article was about "Kids-N-Computers" . It's a little hard to see the details at this size...but, o'well.
I had a break from the deluge of work over this past weekend! It was nice to be free... got to see a movie ("crash"), went to a flea market (Pasadena City College), ate good food (Thai) and consumed a couple cocktails (mohitos). Ahhhhh, I really needed that.
Wow, your illo is great!
ReplyDeleteThis is really creative and well done (as usual), Paige. I love how the kite looks like a circuit board!
ReplyDeletefantastic illustration!
ReplyDeletereally cute...it's so clever.

really great idea, love the imaginative use of the objects within the playground.
ReplyDeleteThis is lovely! Great textures and kids. Reminds me of Mary Blair.
ReplyDeleteyour drawing is wonderful and the idea is amazing ! really like your interpretation !
ReplyDeletethanks, guys! And yes, it IS very Mary Blair. I have great affection for her work and I am sure it seeps through from time to time!

So creative and cute. I loved this one..
ReplyDeletei luv the boys and girls in the picture,it is RETRO VS DIGITAL contrast, excellent work!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! Really love this illustration - full of fun ideas. Away with the old-fashioned computer games, this is (should be) the new way to play. The tv climbing frame reminds me of that fluxus artist Nam June Paik, just to be a bit obscure!
ReplyDeleteoh so lovely!
ReplyDeletei found you via penelope and i was pleasantly surprised to see that you are in la, as well. also, you have good taste in flea markets (the pcc one is my fave) and cocktails (mojitos = yum). yay. xo, christine

Hey Paige!
ReplyDeleteI noticed you got BoingBoinged. Far out.
Have you ever seen Andy Warhol's early work for children's books? Your illustrations are reminiscent of his--and that's a compliment.
ReplyDeleteI love you.
ReplyDeleteDo you publish these anywhere else? I would love to see more, I liked it a lot.
ReplyDeletedammm decent
ReplyDeleteI happened here by accident and so glad I did. Love your work. Will look forward to more.

ReplyDeleteI'm with you, Freelancer. There ARE plenty of blogs that tackle the big issues. And, insomuch that I agree with "Contemplative" with his statement, I've chosen to keep this an upbeat and lighthearted blog. My blog, my choice. There are PLENTY other offerings out there. Hell, I only started this blog to communicate with other illustrators. geesh. Contemplative, why don't you start a blog with your own private rants for all to see?! I see you don't have one posted via blogger. You're no more than an anonymous poster.
