Tatzelwurm

Here's Tatzelwurm. Rumored to exist in Austria but really holding up with C.L.U.B. (The Collective League of Unidentified Beasts) in the secluded mountains of Northern California. He's genuis and just plain weird. You know the type...very smart but lacking in some basic, social skills. Al ( my partner on the project) and I both really liked to refer to him as a sharp-toothed hotdog. So, yes, another old drawing to tide us over until I can share something new.

Til then, my friends...have a lovely day!

  1. too cute! Hey I'm the first to post among the hundreds! yay for me. Your cartoon sounds very similar to a childrens book I've been writing. I'll have to send you what I've written so far. It's almost uncanny!

  2. I don't think he has enough hair to live in Austria, maybe he looks more like a suburban sewer rat.

  5. hey, thanks youse guys!

Brandon: would definitely like to hear your story someday. During the time we were developing this thing, we discovered that many others had attempted similar (yet different) ideas. That's always a bit of a bummer and we tried NOT to look at anything that could influence us. BUT, since this thing is pretty much dead, other than my resurrecting it here on my blog, I'm more willing to look at the other projects.

Morgan: well, in the small bit of research I did for the rumored to exist, Tatzelwurm...he is a WORM therefore, hairless. Our best guess is that he was sort of gila monter-ish. Of course, I took major liberties with that...you know, since no one can PROVE what he might look like!! Thanks for the suggestion though!

donnachada and virginajoe, I appreciate your kind comments! Danke!

  6. Except for the hat, I think he looks very Austrian. He could eat a Bauernschmauss or two.

Paige, I think it is related to the Tasmanian Devil of Australia actually, and is suspected of having a camoflaged marsupial pouch, but no one has ever prooved it. My friend who goes to UC Berkeley says he's in one of her classes.

    ReplyDelete
  13. WOW! A marsupial pouch??! That's interesting. Descriptions I have of him say he's scaly with tiny front legs. Are we talking about the same Tatzel?? Ah well, listen...tell you friend to tell "him" I said Hi and see if he's got that pouch!! (he he)

You can really tell you spent a lot of thought and effort into making each sketch/piece into it's own idea. What can I say man, I really enjoy your work. I will bookmark your blog and make sure I keep comin' back for more. Thanks for the coffee breaks in the morning, REALLY fun stuff.
